Dunedin Naturopath, Sarah is the founder of Cliffside Herbary & Dispensary which is a unique Naturopathic Clinic with boutique Herbal Dispensary, Apiary, and Medicinal Herbary.
Sarah has always been passionate about Medicinal Herbs for health and well-being and has 25 years of experience growing these. Sarah is a qualified Naturopath who is registered with the New Zealand Association of Medical Herbalists (NZAMH) and Naturopaths and Medical Herbalists of New Zealand (NMHNZ).
Sarah offers consultations in her Dunedin Naturopathic clinic. She runs workshops using medicinal herbs, plants, and seeds.
Sarah’s in-clinic Naturopath consultations will set you on the path for better health and wellbeing with comprehensive treatment plans. She will explore diet and lifestyle, and use the tools of holistic Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Lifestyle advice and where appropriate natural supplements. Sarah will target the root cause of your health condition using the tools listed below.
Sarah utilises the following tools in-clinic:
- Medicinal Herbs – Herbal tinctures and practitioner only supplements
- Nutrition – how to get the best from your food
- Lifestyle strategies – Holistic lifestyle recommendations for gentle exercise and nutrition
- First Light Flower Essences – mental and emotional support
- Iridology – using the iris as a reflexology tool
- Traditional diagnostic tools such as tongue, hand, and nail analysis
- Functional testing to include: Mineral balancing, Heavy Metal ID and detox, Microbiome (gut) health, Food sensitivities/intolerances, Hormonal balancing
Functional testing can provide an important base-line of where your health is sitting. These can then be utilised to bring the body back into balance, replenishing it with the minerals, micro-flora, and vitamins that you may be lacking – or not absorbing.
Mineral analysis (HTMA) measures the body’s chemical makeup providing us with graphical information of metabolic activity. It also measures any toxic metal build-up. We can then balance minerals before they manifest into symptomatic or clinical conditions.
The Gut Microbiome is an important target for bringing the body back into balance, the diversity of our micro flora has a huge impact on our overall health. Sarah has just finished post-graduate studies as an Advanced Microbiome Analyst.
Herbs can be useful to retrain the autonomic brain signalling as sometimes the body needs to be rebooted/reset to redirect it onto the required pathways for health. Cliffside Herbary Clinic has an extensive Herbal Dispensary and herbs from the Cliffside Herbary.
The Herbary
What would a Naturopath be without their own Herbary to draw from? At Cliffside Herbary/nursery, Sarah has in-season offerings of medicinal plants and nutritious vegetables. The Herbary grows herbal teas and boasts its own apiary providing fresh boutique raw honey and beeswax.
Workshops
The Workshops run by Cliffside Dispensary coincide with school holidays to teach young people the value of natural health. These workshops demonstrate how to grow and use medicinal herbs to make ointments, and herbal teas, Sarah has a long list of options to choose from, in doing so tailoring the workshops for the individual, (just like she does with her Naturopathic appointments). These workshops also teach how to best use nutrition to support the body systems. Adult classes are also available.
Iridology
Sarah’s Iridology readings give you a full description of your Iris “picture”. Iridology involves iris examination, looking at markings, colourings, and patterns as these relate directly to the body systems. Iridology is the Reflexology of the eyes.
