Taste Nature’s Apothecary Dunedin has an on-site Herbal Dispensary and is staffed by our Naturopaths and Medical Herbalists who are on hand Monday to Saturday to provide acute health and wellness advice, and also provide a variety of herbs, herbal tonics, and supplements (if required) to support healing and recovery.

What is an Apothecary?

An Apothecary dispenses herbs in various forms such as teas, fluid extracts, powders, syrups and nutritional supplements.

The Dunedin Apothecary also dispenses organic make-up, skin care, body oils, essential oils, soaps, and perfumes.

Why should I consider talking to a Naturopath or Medical Herbalist  when all the information I need is on the internet? Well, the internet can’t see you as the unique individual you are, but a Naturopath/Medical Herbalist will. Your body’s systems don’t work in isolation, what affects one system may affect one or more other systems. Naturopathy is a holistic model of healing that takes into account your whole being:  physical, mental, emotional.

We can help you to support all your body’s systems – your Skin, Muscles, Bones, Heart, Circulation, Digestion, Bladder & Kidneys, Nervous, Reproductive, Immune, Thyroid & Adrenals, and Lungs.

Our herbal fluid extracts are sourced from Aotearoa New Zealand, Ayurvedic, European, and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) flora. These fluid extracts are variously manufactured from root, leaf, bark flower, resins, seeds, fruits, and fungal fruiting bodies. Our tea bar has a wide range of herbs that can be bought individually, consisting of root, leaf, flowers and fruits.

We stock a wide range of practitioner-only supplements including:

Phytomed, Medi Herb, Bio Practica, and Eagle Blue.

We also stock a full range of the First Light Flower Essences 1 – 36. The First Light Flower Essences are a holistic healing essence that use the spirit of Aotearoa native flowers to support you emotionally and spiritually, restoring internal balance and harmony.

Naturopath’s Tracey Gear, Francisca Griffin, and Sarah Campbell-MacKenzie are instore for over the counter advice, Monday – Friday, 10am – 6pm and Saturday 9am – 4pm

Our Naturopaths utilise Herbal tonics, medicinal foods, nutritional supplements, First Light Flower Essences, functional testing (for food intolerances, hormone levels, nutritional profiles, SIBO etc), lifestyle advice, and holistic lifestyle practices.

Francisca Griffin brings 20+ years of Naturopathic experience to support you to rediscover and maintaining your true health and wellness. Francisca also offers Reiki level II and Reflexology. Francisca is the creator of Ambrosia Botanicals a complete range of toxin-free body care products. Francisca works from her own home clinic in Port Chalmers as well as in Taste Nature’s Integrative Health Clinic.

Tracey Gear trained as a Medical Herbalist and is particularly interested in Gut Health. She believes that the underlying cause to many health conditions and imbalances stem from Gut Health. Tracey has years of experience in supporting Digestive issues, including food intolerances, auto-immune disease, allergies and sleep/nervous disorders. Tracey can be seen in clinic in her room at the Taste Nature’s Integrative Health Clinic.

Sarah Campbell-MacKenzie spent her pre-covid years in the Event and Entertainment industry. The covid pandemic saw her change direction to fulfill her dream of working with herbs leading her to spend the next four years studying through the Naturopathic College of New Zealand and qualifying late 2024 as a graduate Naturopath. 2025 will see Sarah working closely with an experienced mentor as she establishes her Naturopathic clinic, “Cliffside Herbary & Dispensary” which also includes a boutique Herbal Dispensary, Apiary, and Medicinal Herbary. Incorporating Naturopathic consultations and workshops using medicinal herbs, plants, and seeds. Sarah incorporates iridology as a part of her clinical investigations.
